UMass Boston General Academic Building #1

Project Scope:


The UMass Boston General Academic Building #1 is the second new academic building in the UMass Boston Master Plan. Featuring more the 25 General-use classrooms, a multi-media studio classroom, four 150-200 discussion halls and a 500 seat lecture hall. This project included all new services; power, mechanical, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications.

RTH Riverway Residential

Project Scope:


Our team provided electrical installation services for this 11-story, 145-unit high rise residential building, newly constructed along Boston’s Riverway. The project required extensive coordination with the general contractor and other trades in order to meet an aggressive schedule within a tight work footprint.

Lowell Health Center

Project Scope:


For the Lowell Health Center adaptive reuse project, we first completed a demolition of old electrical systems that had been part of the existing six-story mill structure. Our team then conducted a comprehensive fit-out of the renovated building, including new services, generator, power, lighting, telecommunications, and fire alarms for exam rooms, offices and waiting areas.

Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA)

Project Scope:


We partnered with the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA) to install new SCADA Control System at the pump stations. This complex project involved comprehensive coordination with MWRA staff across four active sewage treatment plants.

Installation Highlights:


  • Thousands of feet of PVC-coated rigid conduit, fittings, and boxes
  • SCADA control cabinets at four treatment plants
  • Sensors, level, flow, and gas instrumentation throughout four pump stations
  • Daily coordination and scheduling with the MWRA plant operations staff

Edward M Kennedy Institute

Project Scope:


The Edward M. Kennedy Institute project included a complete electrical installation of extensive power, lighting, audiovisual capabilities, and fire alarm systems. This project required us to work in several unique environments, including full-scale replicas of both Senator Kennedy’s Washington office and the United States Senate Chamber. The program also included University of Massachusetts teaching classrooms, a chiller plant, and two large mechanical spaces.

    • 400-kilowatt diesel generator with normal and emergency power distribution systems
    • Siemens® fire alarm system
    • Lutron lighting control system
    • State of the art Electrosonic® audio/visual exhibit spaces
    • 50 exterior bollards—each bearing the name of a US state—are lit by in-ground LED fixtures
    • Sconce fixtures on gallery walls are replicas of US Senate Chambers fixtures, each one hand-crafted from a custom mold
    • Ceiling electrical work in the chamber dome was completed off of 50-foot-high staging, with limited interior ladder access
    • Tight schedule and rigorous electrical and AV coordination
